Indie-rock Sensations Good Kid Share New Bittersweet Anthem, “Wall”

| | ,

Toronto indie rockers Good Kid return with their new single “Wall”, a bittersweet, high-energy anthem about the unexpected gut-punch of running into the ex that almost became “the one.” Written with their signature mix of hook-driven riffs and clever lyricism, “Wall” captures the awkward armour we put on to appear unbothered, even as the smallest reminder can send us spiralling into what-ifs.

‘Wall’ is a story about running into your ex —the ex,” the band shares. “It’s about putting up walls, pretending you’re fine, even though a simple encounter at a vintage clothing shop can stir up everything you thought you left behind.

Lyrically raw and musically explosive, “Wall” also marks a new chapter for Good Kid, one that pushes their sound into bolder, grittier territory. Fans will hear the band leaning harder into visceral vocals, chaotic guitar solos, and production choices that feel both unfiltered and unpredictable. “This is the most uninhibited and unfiltered we’ve ever been,” says the band. “We wanted the song to feel alive, even imperfect, because that’s what makes them real.

In keeping with Good Kid’s innovative spirit, the band turned their latest video into a one-of-a-kind fan experience. Through a contest, one lucky fan was animated into the story, forever immortalized in the Good Kid universe. The final cut is a frenetic, late-night labor of love that blurs the line between band and fandom, cementing Good Kid’s reputation as one of the most creative, community-driven acts today.

Speaking on the new video, the band explains, “Working again with animator Xray Alpha Charlie, we wanted ‘Wall’ to feel like an anime opening for our universe, a mix of friendship, music, and everyday life in ‘Neo-TO’, until everything suddenly unravels.

As a band we grew up obsessed with animated series and anime…the way they could make you believe in impossible worlds and the people fighting to protect them. ‘Wall’ is our way of capturing the joy, the stakes, and the magic of the anime we grew up on.

The single arrives on the heels of a whirlwind few years that have quietly positioned Good Kid as ‘the biggest band you’ve never heard of.’ With more than 700 million streams across their catalog, a viral breakout single, “From the Start”, which amassed 1M streams in its first 24 hours and now boasts over 150M streams, and 2.6 million monthly Spotify listeners, Good Kid has built an exponential following, all while staying fully independent.

They had seven infectious tracks featured in a MrBeast video (topping 300M views), which earned them two JUNO nominations (including Breakthrough Group of the Year in 2024) and fuelled sold-out tours across North America, the UK, and Europe.

What truly sets Good Kid apart is the community they’ve cultivated. Self-proclaimed ‘the world’s most creator-friendly band,’ they’ve made their entire discography Content ID-free and DMCA-free, allowing creators across Twitch, YouTube, and beyond to use their music without fear of takedowns. This ethos has turned Good Kid into a cultural fixture of gaming and online creator spaces, with music woven into Riot Games and Epic projects, Valorant tournament broadcasts, and collaborations with influencers across esports, animation, and music.

As creators ourselves, it felt natural for our music to become super embedded in the content creation space,” says guitarist Jacob Tsafatinos. “We love when creators of any scale use our music—whether it’s a trick-shot video or MrBeast.

Alongside their digital footprint, Good Kid has grown a global fanbase through relentless touring and an ever-expanding online universe of lore, storytelling, and fan collaboration. The band’s Discord server is a thriving community hub where listeners don’t just consume music, they co-create, role-play, and world build with the band. It’s a rare model of how independent music can scale without sacrificing authenticity.

With “Wall”, Good Kid distills all of that energy—emotional honesty, unfiltered sound, and community spirit—into a song that is as cathartic as it is catchy. It’s a track that reminds us how easy it is to stumble back into old memories, and how sometimes the bravest thing you can do is put up a wall and keep moving forward.
